Matt Scott Opens with a Victory in F200 Racing

Karting roared back to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin as the Burris Circle Tour, the Midwest’s Premier Kart Racing Series, hosted a record crowd of speedway karts, Champ Karts and Outlaw Mini Cup cars. Karts with the new F200-OHV engines showed in force and the 4 Cycle Sr. Lite class set the stage for close racing on the 1/3 mile track at Lake Geneva Raceway.

In 2004, 6 classes are offered with the F200-OHV engine. This engine package lets the racer choose from several brands of engines with a 200 cc maximum displacement. Matt Scott’s red #2 kart earned the victory in the Champ F200 Jr. 3 class holding off a strong challenge from Ryan Marshall. Ross Kenseth, who was running for the early lead battled with Jason Cox and Jimmy Sivia for the 3rd position. At the stripe, the finish was Scott, Marshall, Cox, Sivia and Kenseth. Other F200 winners were Mackensie Piller – Champ Jr.1, Aaron Phillips – Sr. Champ, Morgan Schissel – Jr. 1, Michelle Roy- Jr. 3 and Mikey Breiner- Sr. F200

The Sr. Lite class is sure to be one of the most competitive on the circuit as 11 of the 15 today’s drivers earned a feature victory in 2003. Shane Morrissey led a 5-kart draft of former feature winners until the last corner. Then each driver picked a line as they came across the line side-by-side. Nick Chiapetta won the race followed by Morrissey, Jordan Thiel, Jeff Everts and Zach Axlen.

20 Kid Karters swarmed to the track in the 8-lap Feature event. Returning drivers Elliot Pritchett, Brent Edmunds, Morgan Schissel, Thaddeus Malosh and Joshua James had outstanding performances posting top-5 finishes.
Other top Sr. finishers included Trevor Raisback-2 Cycle Sportsman, J.J. Adams – Sr. Sportsman, and Shane Morrissey-Sr. Medium. 4-Cycle Junior class winners were Alex Stumpf - Jr.2, newcomer Damien Janks - Jr. 3, Dylan Barbosa – Champ Jr. 1, and Rachael Pinkerman – Champ Jr. 3.

The Burris Circle Tour’s next race is on the high banks of the Rockford Speedway, May 16th followed by the first of the Holiday Series races on May 30th again at Rockford. All of the action about the Burris Circle Tour can be found at www.karts.net/burriscircle.
