vie for the top spots in the Burris Twin 50's!!
The second leg of the Twin 50's showcased the Sr. Lite drivers. Zach Axlen earned the pole position with a qualifying time of 20.621 on the 1/3-mile oval. Axlen and Jeff Everts teamed up as drafting partners to work their way to the front of the field. The marriage lasted until the last lap as they fought for the win. Everts, former BCT Series champion took the lead in the last lap. Coming to the last corner, he moved down to close off Axlen's preferred line, but Axlen saw and took full advantage of the small space he was given, moving side-by-side with Everts to the stripe. With a final burst of speed, Axlen took the checkered flag by less than a half a second. Other top finishers in the top 5 were Richard McGill, Shane Morrissey and Nick Chiapetta. Nortown Automotive's Sr. Champ Kart Classic started the day with a convincing win from Adam Phillips. Newcomer Fred Hefti, Nichole Phillips and George Bobolos all had podium finishes. Eric Freiberg and Shane Morrissey put on a demonstration in drafting in the Sr. Medium class until the last lap. Morrissey got the inside line, when Freiberg put the pedal to the metal for a win by just 3/100ths of a second. Another close finish was seen in the Sr. Sportsman Class with JJ Adams stealing the win from Dave Terrafino on the last straight-a-way. Other feature winners included Paul Weter - F200 Sr., Eliott Prichett - Kid Karts, Dylan Barbosa - Jr. Sportsman Champ, Morgan Schissel-F200 Jr. 1, Mackenzie Piller - Champ F200 Jr 1, David Brady -Jr. 3 Champ, Matt Scott - Champ F200-Jr 3, Alex Stumpf - Jr. 2 Lite, Sr. 2-Cycle - Eric Freiberg.
