Kid Karters put on Big Time Show in the BCT High Revs Event

The High Revs event was a day to dream for. 17 Kid Karters put on the complete racing show at Lake Geneva Raceway, starting with a 2-lap qualifying session - just like the big guys. Then there were driver introductions - just like the big boys. The racers got ready to go and Elliott Prichett led the long 15-lap feature from start to finish. There was action behind the leader with Joshua James making a strong bid to take the second spot from Morgan Schissel. Brent Edmunds and Cody Lipstreuer finished on the podium in 4th and 5th respectively. The post race celebration continued - almost like the big guys- with a victory lap and burnouts on the front stretch.

Trevor Raisbeck started the day in the 2-cycle Sportsman class with the fastest qualifying time of the day at 19.303, a full half-second faster than the nearest competitor. Eric Freiberg, not to be outdone, came back to win the heat race. In the feature, Freiberg jumped out to a big lead and looked to be unstoppable. Raisbeck took his time each lap picking up a little speed. He then made a clean pass and left the rest of the field as a dim memory. The final order was Raisbeck, Freiberg, Brad Plunket, Destini Clark and Edward Cruey III in the top 5 spots.

Mike Terrafino, a newcomer to the Burris Circle Tour this year lead 13 laps of the Sr. Lite feature. It was a battle with 7 karts within a half a second. On the last lap, Ryan Rockhold found a narrow lane on the inside and Nick Chiapetta and Zach Axlen followed him through hanging Terrafino out in the slow lane. Rich McGill and Tyler Middleton took advantage of the shuffle to finish fourth and fifth.

In other action, Rob Blake in the Sr. Sportsman Class and Cory Talaska in Jr. 2 Lite won their first feature races of the year. Morgan Schissel was on a mission in the F200 Jr 1’s as he drove away from the competition. Damian Jenks is still the guy to beat in Jr. 3 Lite, winning for the 3rd time this year. Dylan Barbosa swept the Jr. Sportsman Champ class and rookie driver Jamie Clos is becoming a real threat. Ryan Marshall took the feature win in the Champ F200 Jr. 3’s holding off a strong challenge from Corey Domenick. Mackenzie Piller won the Champ F200 Jr.1 class and Stephen Kamerer was the victor in Briggs Champ Jr. 3.

In preparation for next week’s Champions Memorial Race at the Durand Bulldog Sprints, former karting standout Jake Humphrey returned to karting action. After a 4th place finish on Saturday night in the Super Late Model feature, Jake showed it doesn’t matter what he is racing by squeaking past Mikie Breiner and Chris Lishamer to take the F200 Sr. Feature win.

Most of the Burris Circle Tour drivers will be in action in Durand for the 4th of July weekend. With $2500 to win guaranteed for the Champions Memorial Race, the field will be packed with experience and daring. Come out to Durand, Illinois to catch all the action.
