Jr. Drivers Shine at the Jr. Sprints

The Jr. 2’s and Jr. 3’s really mixed it up at the Jr. Sprints at the Rockford Speedway, September 19th .
The event, the 12th in the Burris Circle Tour featured the up and coming drivers in qualifying, a combined heat race and long 25 lap features. Aaron Katzenberg led the way in Jr. 3 with the fastest qualifying time of 17.801. Matthew Hottinger picked up his first win in the A heat race while Tommy Jones was tops in the B group. Cory Talaska and Damian Jenks won the long Jr. 2 and Jr. 3 features.

Brennan Frisby snatched his first feature win in the always-competitive Kid Kart class. Cody Lipstreuer, determined to be on the podium ran side by side for most of the race. Joey Flores, who earned his first pole position finished third. The Kid Karters celebrated a milestone when all 15 karts finished on the lead lap.

Corey Domenick had the setup to beat in the Champ F200 Jr. 3 class. Corey could race high, low or anywhere in between. His closest challenger was Ross Kenseth and Matt Scott finished well in third. The Jr. Sportsman Champs had a show down with Colton Clevenger, Jamie Clos, Dylan Barbosa and Sean Clavey all in the hunt for the top trophy. Clavey was running side-by-side with Barbosa .

Then Clavey and Clos formed up in a draft and chased down the leaders. At the finish line it was Barbosa, Clevenger, Clavey and Clos in first through fourth positions.

Sr. Lite points leader Nick Chiapetta got hung outside of the draft for the first half of the Sr. Lite feature.
He finally wedged his kart behind Zach Axlen into the third slot to keep up with Axlen and Jeff Everts.
Coming around the last lap, Chiapetta finally made a pass stick to cross just inches behind Everts and ahead of Axlen.
The Burris Circle Tour finishes the season Sunday, October 3rd at the Rockford Speedway.
